I taught my final SM class Friday night. It was a strange experience. Monday night I had one kid who really wants to be an actor/writer when he grows up, but he has correctly sussed out that the only way he'll make money in theatre is to learn tech. Tuesday I had the kid, my SM for Harvey and the Managing Director of the company. Wednesday we were off so I could house manage Music Machine at the PAC. Thursday was just my SM and the Managing Director. Friday...just the Managing Director. To be fair, the kid sent a very, very nice email thanking me for the class and telling me how much he had learned and how sorry he was to miss the rest of it and my SM was throwing up all day Friday so I really didn't want him to come in anyway.
After that I went to see
Rodney,
Saturday I House Managed for Music Machine again and we got ready for the party after that. It was really fun, one of the best parties we've had. About 10-15 people came and we stayed up until after 3 sitting around the fire and talking.
Sunday I House Managed. Again. This time it was for the Air Force Band of the Pacific. Only the drummer and the brass section (the part of a band Nervis Rex calls The Brassholes) were there. I was expecting a steady diet of Soussa, but the second song they played was Rubber Duckie. They also did Bohemian Rhapsody and Hawaii 5-0. There was rehearsal for the Brr-lesque show, but I got to Koots as it was wrapping up. One of the dancers wants me to do the snake puppet in her number, so I got the puppet and I'll see what to do with it at our next rehearsal.
I finally got word back from the orthopedic doc this morning and he can fit me in tomorrow. I am sooo relieved because I'm still a bit swollen from last Thursday's work. My right shoulder started behaving the moment I hung up the phone, of course.
That's the news for the week, heading back to work now!
