Great Moments in Directing

I have a new icon for my show! It's a detail from the poster.

I also have a very tempermental door stage right that leads into the sheriff's office. Last night we blocked all the scenes that happen in the office, including a small fight.

After the fight, the boys leave and their dad, H.C., closes the door behind them and has a heart-to-heart with the deputy sheriff, File.

And the door swung open, so H.C. Stood right in front of it and everytime it swung open he tried to bump it back into place with his butt. This strategy did not work.

After H.C. leaves, File walks over and slams the door. And the door drifted open, so he slammed it again. 3 or 4 times before he finally realized he was not going to win this fight and he just sat down and finished the scene.

I had to give my actors the note: "If the door swings open, just turn around and shut it firmly with both hands, don't stand there and play footsies or assies with it."

I'm too tired. I was reading this and seriously thought "How does a theatre get located right next door to a sheriff station? And I thought you had to avoid it in your blocking or something. I'm rambling now, sorry.
