1. I still have no job, so nothing to take sick days from.

2. The main tree for the kids is up. Sometime this week I'll put up my little personal one.

3. Bagpipes. :)

1. More often than I would like (considering I do get paid hourly). But between sometimes utterly debilitating migraines that the meds can't put a dent into and the occasional need for a mental health day, my sick days do get used.

2. I waited this year and put it up the week of Thanksgiving.

3. Bagpipes.

SAHM's don't get sick days - How'd I miss that in my contract!?

Dec. 9th, 2008 06:50 pm (UTC)
1. Don't "get them" as a contractor -- but I end Wop'ing about 3 or 4 a year due to illness, on average

2 This week -- proll'y Thursday :>

3. Bagpipes (and mischief_wa is an evil Tuba lover!)

Actually I prefer Cotras but tuba will do. =P

1) Once a year. Maybe twice. But then, I'm self-employed, so I have a real pushover for a boss.

2) Nope, and not going to.

3) Can't I have both?
Dec. 9th, 2008 06:58 pm (UTC)
1. Never. Can't take sick days at my job
2. Nope. Not going to put one up
3. Bagpipes

I am SO stealing your answer for Number 3! *swipes*

1. As a contractor, I do not get official sick days. But the last time I was out of work sick, was about two months ago. Missed 3 days due to bronchitis.

2. Nope. But I get to pick one up this weekend. And my husband said, "I want you to enjoy Christmas, so go get yourself a tree and I will help you decorate the God damn thing."

3. BAGPIPES!! For our 15th anniversary celebration for both my brother and his wife, and my husband and I, we got a bagpiper and drummer for entertainment. They stood at the edge of the lake...it was simply breathtaking. They make me cry.

1. Pretty much never. Being a grad student, I'm only in class 2-3 times a week, and every class only meets 14 times or so, so unless I'm dying or something, I drag my butt into class when it meets and just take a break from homework when it doesn't. I think I've only missed class maybe twice for being sick, and once for a death in the family.

2. Nope. Jewish. Haven't put up the menorah yet either.

3. Bagpipes. Particularly when played by attractive men in kilts. Less so when played by this guy who busks on my corner, who is not a very good bagpipe player, to say the least.

1. Rarely. I gotta be sick enough to justify using my PTO. ;-)

2. YEAH! w00t. Last Saturday.

3. Bagpipes!! *is happy*

1. Lately? All the damned time, but I've had a lot of maintenance appointments lately.

2. Yes.

3. Bagpipes. As long as they don't have a microphone. I was at an Irish festival once where Brother was playing and they miked the damned bagpipes. Bagpipes are meant to be heard over a battlefield. They do not need microphones.

1. I'll take one once every few months or so.
2. I've erected no less than THREE Christmas trees already.
3. That's a toughie. I have lots of affection for the tuba, but more of a personal relationship with the bagpipes. Hm. I'm gonna say tuba though, because I got to see/hear Patti LuPone play one when she was Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd on B'Way.

1)Hardly ever
3)Tubas, as a Barry sax player, tubas were my homeboys.

I'm not working atm so every day is a sick day :p

It's up just not decorated yet.

Dec. 9th, 2008 09:47 pm (UTC)
1. As often as I possibly can.
2. We always put it up the Friday after Thanksgiving, so yes.
3. Definitely bagpipes.
Dec. 9th, 2008 09:54 pm (UTC)
1. Well, I typically miss each class a few times every semester. Not usually because I'm sick, though. And I think I've taken one sick day from my various summer/holiday jobs in my life, though granted I haven't worked very much.

2. I'm not putting one up, though I'm sure my family will.

3. Bagpipes!
Dec. 9th, 2008 11:00 pm (UTC)
1. Hardly ever

2. Unfortunately, no

3. Bagpipes

1. Genuine sick days I take when I am genuinely sick - once or twice a year. Mental health sick days I take maybe twice a year.

2. Yes, the stunted tree is up. The rest of the house will be decorated this weekend.

3. (Answer totally stolen from dances_withcats):

Bagpipes. Highland pipes, small pipes, Union pipes, uilleann pipes, you name it: if it's got a bag and a chanter and a bunch of drones sticking out of it, I'm all over it. I shamelessly cry when I hear "Amazing Grace" played by a pipe and drum band. Maybe it's the Celt in me.

Not often, but if I'm really sick I will. I take "Mental health" days more often than "I'm too sick to move" days! :)

Yep - a couple days after Thanksgiving.

Haha... why the random questions? Love the idea!

1. I don't know... I could go months without taking any, and I have done so, but in the past years it has changed. It seems that during the winter I get ill every three weeks and have to take one of two days off to recover. So... that would be about 3 a month? On average. But not too long ago I was ill for two weeks, so that definitely upped the monthly average.

2. No. We're not getting one because we're spending the whole Christmas with my parents and my in-laws, 800 km away from here. (I'm still going to put up some decorations and lights, just to get into the spirit of the thing.)

3. I'm not a big fan of either, but if I had to choose, I'd choose bagpipes because they remind me of Scotland, and I like Scotland. :)
Dec. 17th, 2008 01:56 pm (UTC)
1. no sick days. (though if you have a choice never get a dozen vaccinations simultaneously. the process has treated me poorly)

2.My mother is the keeper of the tree.

3.Tubas and bagpipes while fiercely independent and stubborn to the extreme are soulmates through and through. As such, if your lucky(?), you should hear them together.
