He was supposed to go in at Noon for a 2:45 surgery and the room was set aside for him for about 3 hours.
Things didn't end up getting started until 5:30. Apparently they discovered a tumor in the patient before lonelydumptruck so that operation went way over time.
The surgeon called me about 7:45 to say things had gone "well". I was listening, taking notes and trying to remember to breathe all at the same time, so I might have some details garbled but what I got down is that the disc had not ruptured. There was joint thickening/a bone spur they cleared out. The cyst was really stuck to the spinal cord and nerves so a nerve might have been "tweaked a bit" getting it out.
lonelydumptruck was in recovery for a couple hours so it was after 11 before I got him home and picked up all his meds. We tried to sleep in today. He's sore and stiff but he ate lunch at the table sitting in a dining room chair for the first time in more than a month!
