Synopsis: A renegade reporter and a crazy young heiress meet on a bus heading for New York, and end up stuck with each other when the bus leaves them behind at one of the stops.
I decided to start with this movie because lonelydumptruck had no interest in seeing it and I could watch it while he was playing Cyberpunk. Plus, I'd ordered the disc from Netflix long, long ago.
How long, you ask?
Long enough ago thatlonelydumptruck and I were having a conversation about movies and he mentioned "I just hate that plot. I hate that story even though I was in it." He meant She Loves Me, because we were talking about several older movies that night but I was shocked - shocked when I popped this in and discovered it did not share the same plot as Shop Around the Corner.
Honestly though...I might have liked it better if it had...
It was refreshing to see the girl as the straight man as opposed to just a manic pixie dream girl (we saw Bringing Up Baby last year) but is it required that all screwball comedies have one character dominate/abuse the other?
