With my beginning acting/improv kids, I like to introduce character building with a game called "A Million Ways To".
Basically I tell them there are a million ways to do anything, so today we're going to enter the room. Joey! Enter the room like you're really, really sad. Kennedy! Enter the room like a ballerina. Eden! Enter the room like you're expecting to see your dog but he isn't there. And so on.
