One Cut of the Dead
I usually don't just post these the next day if I miss it but Holy crap! This is one of the best movies I have seen this year!
All I knew going in was the advertising: "While shooting a low-budget zombie film in an abandoned warehouse, the crew find themselves caught between actual zombies and a mad director who won't stop rolling." and I'd heard it was really good. To say more is to spoil, but for those who need small spoilers
So we start watching and the first half hour is...a really, really bad horror movie. Like, you can see where the zombie who got his arm torn off just has his arm hidden in his shirt bad. It is "oh my Zod, does it look like that zombie just got propped up against that victim?" bad. The credits roll and part of my brain said "hey, wasn't this supposed to be 90 min? That was only 30" and then they start the rest of the movie with the director being hired to shoot a zombie movie in one take that will air live on TV.
If you need still MORE spoilers, I'm here for you
And from there is is a back stage comedy of everything that goes to shit while filimg. Why was that zombie just propped on the victim? Because he found the bottle of sake the cast was meant to share at the wrap psrty snd he is blind drunk. Why are the actors just staring silently at the camera? They're reading a cue card that says "Keep improvising!!"
I want to see this movie at least 3 more times!
